Flat Roof Options
When it comes to flat roof options, there are plenty to choose from. The more durable they are the more expensive they are. Whether you are looking for a new flat roof construction or flat roof replacement, this quick handy guide can help you, and our team are here for more detailed information.
A Felt Roof is one of the most cost-effective flat roof options. Flat roof felt can be used on roofs of all sizes and is a tried and tested flat roof method. It needs to be professionally installed using heat and is not suitable for regular footfall. You can expect to have to make some flat roof repairs over the years too.
The other bitumen flat roof option is asphalt. An asphalt roof is a reasonably priced option for structures with a sturdy roof structure and has a long lifespan. It is inflexible and requires professional installation.
EPDM rubber roofing is a modern, flexible, lightweight and extremely durable synthetic rubber membrane (ethylene propylene diene terpolymer), perfect for flat roof construction and requires no maintenance. EPDM roofing can be DIY installed. Some options are not pretty and it can shrink over time.
PVC Roofing as another single ply roofing option. A single ply membrane roof can also be made from TPE, TPO, PIB etc. The roof membrane is lightweight, flexible, attractive, fire resistant, and handles large areas (though may struggle with complex detailing).
A grp fibreglass roofing solution is very durable and has no joints. A fibreglass flat roof does not require heat and is an attractive roofing solution for flat roof construction which will last for a considerable time. It does not suit large areas and the surface is quite slippery, especially when new. You can expect to go a long time without having to make flat roof repairs.
